The Father's Day Show

Join us on 20 June 2021!

This Fathers' Day, come spend an afternoon sharing or listening to stories about the joys, struggles, frustrations and rewards of growing up and parenthood. Our trained team of applied theatre practitioners will bring your stories to life using sound, movement and simple items.

Whether it's a child who sees his Dad as his hero, a father talking about his struggles juggling work and spending time with his family, someone who has lost a child, or someone who's looking forward to becoming a father, we believe that everyone has a story. Mothers are most welcome to join us!

The interactive playback theatre performance will be in English, with smatterings of Singlish, local dialect, Malay and/or Mandarin.

A bit of background: Playback Theatre is a form of improvisational theatre where audience members share stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. It was developed in 1975 by Jonathan Fox and Jo Salas, and others in the original Playback Theatre company in New York state’s Mid-Hudson Valley. It is now practised in over 70 countries and appreciated worldwide due to its ability to create a deep ritual space where any story - however ordinary, extraordinary, hidden, or difficult - can be told, reflected back, and affirmed.
